What is MPDD and GPDD ?

May 19th, 2009

We have discovered 2 very common disorders amongst corprate.  They are not to be taken lightly.

MPDD: Make a Point Deficit Disorder
People with this disorder  talk a lot in meetings without making a point. You can reply to most of their points with “May be” or if they go beyond tolerance then you can press the “Your are pushing your luck” button. This has worked for many.

GPDD: Get the Point Deficit Disorder
People with this disorder oftend to not follow logical conclusions or strategy. They are a challenge. You may try to explain the point like you would to a 5 year old. If they go beyond tolerance, just press the “No Meeting For You” button.  This is the most popular solution.

Meeting nazi is a simple iPhone app based on a very simple concept “What will Soup Nazi do in a meeting room?”. I came up with this idea when i was in one of those unproductive meetings. I yelled “No meeting for you” and there was a sudden silence in the conference room followed by laughter. That actually worked and we got back on track with the agenda.

The funny thing is there are 100’s of books and seminars that teach you the art of running effective meetings and how to keep the group focused. They literally put you to sleep and charge you thousands of dollars. While all you need is a way to grab attention (preferably with humor) and interrupt the conversation and bring them back on track.

So next time you are approached by someone to a training on Effective Meetings, just say

“No Time For You”
